About
The Finnish electricity grid runs on five non-fossil sources — wind, solar, nuclear, hydro and biomass — each with a different capacity, weather dependency and carbon cost.
Energy Flower maps that mix into a single shape. Each petal scales with real-time MW output from Fingrid. The centre shows carbon intensity. A fossil ring fills when renewables fall short of demand.
Data sources
- Fingrid Open Data API — production by source, grid demand (datasets 74, 181, 188, 191, 201, 202, 248)
- Open-Meteo — weather conditions at Helsinki (temperature, wind, cloud cover, solar radiation)
Data updates every three minutes, matching Fingrid's publication interval.
